Thank you to all the ladies who showed up to the walk!! It was a huge success in raising both awareness for the cause and funds for research. The Walk for Autism Speaks organizers are definitely appreciative of all of our work!!

Celebrate sumertime in New York with Alpha Xi Delta's mid-summer alumnae event: a Potluck Picnic in Central Park!!

WHEN: Sunday, July 11th

TIME: 2-4:oopm

WHERE: Near W. 66th Street/South of Tavern on the Green

WHAT TO BRING: Bring your favorite summer picnic item (please list what you are bringing either on the facebook event or send to nycalphaxidelta@gmail.com) and a blanket, and the Association will provide drinks, dessert, and other picnic necessities! Suggested potluck items include finger sandwiches, potato salad, fruit, pasta salad, fried chicken, etc.!

This is a great chance for collegiate Alpha Xi's interning in NYC for the summer to join us so feel free to reach out to your fellow sisters and invite them!

PICNIC LOCATION
We will be in the area just south of the old Tavern on the Green. Follow the road inside Central Park south (the direction bikers and runners are going) and there will be a sloping area just south of the old Tavern on the Green. Happy Founders Day!

The New York City Alumnae Association enjoyed a wonderful Founders Day brunch today at Vintage Irving in Union Square. Following our Founders Day ceremony where we placed roses in the vase to recognize each of the ten founders, sisters played a fun game where they could earn points based on their level of sisterhood - such as if they were wearing light blue, dark blue or gold, had previously attended National Convention, or if they had their Little Sis's phone number saved in their phone! It was a fun game and the winner was a chapter woman from the Theta Theta chapter who racked up over 60 points! We all ate a yummy meal followed by homemade cupcakes as a representative from Autism Speaks came to discuss how we could get involved with them as well as with their upcoming walk on Sunday, June 13th. Founder's Day Message from the President

Dear New York City alumnae sisters,

Spring is my favorite time here in the city as it brings gorgeous weather, a spirit of hopefulness and a renewed energy from all New Yorkers. It is also a time to reflect on our sisterhood in Alpha Xi Delta as we celebrate our annual Founder's Day! Our Executive Board is hoping that 2010 is a banner year for our Alumnae Association and we need YOU to be apart of it.

This year I would like to ask all of our sisters in this area to reflect on what Alpha Xi Delta has done for you (and what you have done for her) in your alumnae life. We can all easily recall the benefits from our chapter life - lifetime memories, leadership experience, a sense of belonging (not to mention countless awesome photos from theme parties, Big Sis/Lil Sis nights, etc.)

This Founder's Day I would challenge you to rededicate yourself to the benefits to be had from being an active alumna member in our organization and all the ways you can benefit even beyond college.

A few benefits include:

- Get involved in Autism Speaks - one of the world's most respected and important Autism causes

- Make some new career connections (you never know what career a sister may have, who they may know, or how they can connect you!)

- Make new friends, enjoy girl time, grow your personal network of ladies

- Explore the city and try new restaurants, bars, landmarks and more!

- Fulfill your promise when you were initiated that you would commit to lifetime membership.

The great thing about our Alumnae Association is that it's a low time commitment (we usually have 1 event per month), low cost to pay dues (only $50 annually - of which $20 goes to pay your national alumnae dues), and we offer a variety of events to suit everyone's budget, interests, and neighborhood!

Here are some very simple ways you can help us improve the NYC alum group:

- Join our Facebook group

- Read our blog regularly

- Make sure we have your correct Email address

- Pay your Alumnae Association dues ($50 per calendar year)

- Attend our events as often as you can - and bring another sister!

- Tell other Alpha Xi Deltas who live here in the city to do the same on all of the above!

With your help, we will make our sisterhood stronger and enrich your life in the process. I hope to see you at Founder's Day or one of our other events coming up soon.

Show Support for Autism Speaks on the Today Show!

This is a great opportunity to get some recognition for Autism Speaks while getting some face time on the Today Show!

We will meet at 6:00 am on 49th Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues) at the Today Show plaza entrance. Be sure to wear your Autism Speaks and Alpha Xi Delta t-shirts to show your support.

I know it's early in the morning, but it'd be great to have plenty of sisters there to support Autism Speaks!!

Thank you for everyone who showed up for the holiday potluck! It was a big success--many sisters were able to stop by, there were fun games, and (of course) the highlight was tasting all of the delicious food that everyone brought!
